Gold Crush and RTX Chippercore V2 are grid systems with a lot multiplier — each new level in a basket is bigger than the last. That is what makes their recovery fast and their equity curve smooth in good months, and what makes them dangerous when sized carelessly. This guide is the sizing math, nothing else.
Exposure grows geometrically
With a 0.01 base lot and 2.0× multiplier, levels are 0.01, 0.02, 0.04, 0.08, 0.16, 0.32, 0.64, 1.28. By level 8 the basket holds 2.55 lots — 255× your base. With 1.5×: 0.01, 0.015, 0.02, 0.03, 0.05, 0.08, 0.11, 0.17 → basket 0.49 lots. The multiplier setting is the single most important input in a martingale EA.
Sizing rule we use
- Decide the maximum levels you will allow (we recommend 6–7, never unlimited).
- Compute total basket lots at that level for your multiplier.
- Compute the floating loss of that full basket if gold moves one more grid step against it (for gold, ~$1 per 0.01 lot per $1 move on standard).
- That loss must be under 30% of your balance. If not, reduce the base lot, the multiplier, or the level cap.
Example: $1,000 standard account, 1.5× multiplier, 6 levels, 20-pip grid step on gold: full basket ≈ 0.33 lots; one more step against ≈ $66 plus accumulated loss ≈ $200 → 20% — acceptable. The same with 2.0× and 8 levels floats over $1,500 → not acceptable on $1,000.
Cap the level, not just the lot
Both EAs have a maximum lot cap and a max level input. Set both. A cap without a level limit still lets the basket keep adding at the cap; a level limit without a cap lets one level explode. Together they define your worst case in advance.
Take profit early on martingale
Martingale baskets should close at a modest money target — the edge is the recovery, not the size of any one win. A basket target of 1–2% of balance keeps cycles short and exposure time low. Withdraw profits weekly; do not let a martingale system compound an ever-growing balance.
Cent accounts again
All of the above is 100× more forgiving on a cent account. For balances under $500, run Gold Crush or RTX on cent with a 0.01 base lot, or use Gridder V2 whose protection modules (news filter, spike guard, drawdown stop) were built for exactly this problem.
